On New Year's Eve, the police discovered two male corpses near the station in Luxembourg City. The cause of death is not yet known but reports state that clear signs of assault are evident.

The first body was discovered on New Year's Eve at about  10:30pm on rue de Hollerich,  and shortly afterwards, at about 10:45pm a second corpse was found on rue Joseph Junck.

According to the police report  in both cases, assault appears to be the cause of death. There are signs that there is a connection between the two discoveries even though both bodies were not found together. In both cases, the police were alerted by third parties. Only identification of one of the men has been clarified, for the other it is still unclear.

Preliminary reports indicate the use of a firearm however autopsies planned for today should clarify this.
