TRIER – To mark the beginning of the holiday season, Germany's oldest city has inaugurated its Christmas market and the shops will be open this Sunday.

In Germany, Sunday shopping is a rare occurrence but for 4 selected Sundays in the year including this weekend, shoppers are able to enjoy the pleasures of shopping and strolling in Trier stress free. The shops will be open from 1pm to 6pm for visitors from all over the Greater Region.

Trier is a shoppers paradise all year with its historic pedestrian city centre where everybody can find something suitable. In addition to its various shops, cafés, hotels and restaurants the oldest city in Germany is also a cultural and historical gold mine.

After a long shopping day, the German town is full of restaurants and bars that can offer visitors a wide range of local culinary specialities. In the run-up to Christmas, the town also has a Christmas market that attracts visitors from the whole region. The market offers a wide range of decoration, food, beverage and gift ideas in the traditional Christmas spirit.
