The cost of posting a letter in Luxembourg is set to rise for lighter post but stamps will still remain cheaper than the European average.

Following price changes at the P&T, sending a letter which weighs 20 grams or less will cost 60 cents instead of 50.

Prior to the changes, post was measured according to two weight categories, 0-20 gram letters and 20-50 gram letters, both with different price tags. But under current changes there will be one price for both weights.

Post sent outside of the country in Europe will now cost 85 cents, up from 70 cents and 1.10 euros for sending letters around the world, instead of 90 cents.

The changes mean that the cost of heavier post will be cheaper than before with items weighing 20-50 grams being sent nationally costing 60 cents instead of 70 cents, in Europe 85 cents instead of 1 euro, and internationally, 1.10 euros instead of the previous 1.40 euros.

According to a press release from Luxembourg’s national postal service P & T, the costs are still lower than the European average, where it can cost between 90 to 1.35 euros for domestic and European-wide mail.
