Russia is to build 12 nuclear reactors in India, half of them by 2017, Sergei Kiriyenko, the head of Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom said Friday.

"We will now sign a road map which directly stipulates (the construction of) 12 units in India," said Kiriyenko, who was accompanying Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on his visit to India.

Six of the reactors will be built between 2012 and 2017, he added.
