Luxembourg: First inflation decrease in six months

With an increase of 1.19% during the past month, the index of consumer prices had returned to normal levels, according to Statec analysis published Wednesday.


With an increase of 1.19% during the past month, the index of consumer prices have returned to normal levels, according to Statec analysis published Wednesday.

With the exception of transport and communications sectors all have seen their prices increase in the Grand Duchy during the month of February. But a limited increase, according to figures released Wednesday by Statec.

Food prices rose 0.04%, alcohol and tobacco by 0.15%, housing and health at 0.9%. Only the prices of clothing and footwear (12.21%), those of furnishings (4.09%) and leisure (+2.65%) drive up the monthly average.

In total, therefore, if all results are put together, prices in Luxembourg rose by 1.19%, a rate that is "normal" according to Statec. For the first time in six months, inflation is declining in the country, from 2.11% to 1.52% in February.
