Luxembourg's Findel airport in 2009, has reported a significant reduction in the number of passengers.
The operating company LuxAirport on Monday announced that passenger numbers were down on last year in the wake of the economic downturn by nine percent.
Nevertheless, compared to several other airports: “Luxembourg did not do as badly as passenger numbers following the development of other airports," said Fernand Brisbois, Director General of LuxAirport.
Approximately 1.55 million people according to the report took off and landed in 2009 from Luxembourg Airport, in 2008 there were approximately 1.7 million.
This year, the airlines at Findel will be further expanded. The German airline Hahn Air is in talks regarding the addition, after a year of abstinence, of the charter company Hamburg International once again with offers of flights for private customers. In addition, Sunflex and Pegasus are added, flight offers from Thomas Cook.
