There is only one word to describe the conditions of Luxembourg roads: chaotic!  And it may well worse as communes are no longer able to ensure the continued gritting of their streets. Ponts et Chaussées still  have a some stock but are only able to focus on the main routes.

This morning employees of Ponts et Chaussées were confident about the situation on the roads. They were wrong to be so optimistic as the situation has now become far more perilous.

"Ponts et Chaussées can no longer supply salt to the communes," said Johny Ewertz Engineer at Ponts et Chaussées   this afternoon in telephone converstation with News352. "This is no ill will on our part, we have an obligation to identify the main areas and our stock is becoming more and more depleted" explained Ewertz.

There are still hundreds of tons of salt for the south regions "which will be enough for another few days”

Communes can rest assured that a shipment carrying 1,500 tons of salt should arrive tonight and, "no later than tomorrow morning." A second shipment should come early next week explained Johny Ewertz.
