It will cost a further 30 million euros for construction of the Route du Nord  that is due to connect Kirchberg to the North in order for it to be completed. This was the statement yesterday from , the Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Claude Wiseler.

Yesterday evening, before the Budget Control Board, Claude Wiseler announced that work on the Northern Route will require an extra cash injection of 30 million euros.

The budget for this project in 1997 was 366 million euros before being revised upwards. Today's budget has reached 587 million euros. Now Claude Wiseler wants the Chamber of Deputies give a the extra 30 million euros to make sure that the Route du Nord does not become a “story without end”.

If the tunnel Staffelter is completed later this year, the overall work of the Route du Nord would still take three to four years.
