Andy Schleck, currently Luxembourg's best cyclist, has admitted to dreaming of winning this summer's Tour de France. In an interview with French sports newspaper L'Equipe, 26-year old Andy Schleck said that he's obsessed with winning cycling's most prestigious race: “ Time is up! This year around it has to happen!”
Two weeks ago Andy Schleck was retroactively declared winner of the Tour de France 2010, after the actual winner Alberto Contador was found guilty on doping charges. However, the Mondorf-les-Bains native sticks by his comments, that this victory doesn't feel the same as wearing the famous yellow jersey on the Champs-Elysées podium. The RadioshackNissanTrek rider told L'Equipe: “ This is not a real victory, it's just a title. The CAS ruling doesn't really prove anything. Alberto won that year's Tour and I lost on the road, that's it.”
Andy Schleck, who's currently training in Oman, will continue his preparations for the Tour with the traditional Paris-Nice race from 4 March - 11 March.
