On Thursday afternoon, a security guard at the Cattenom nuclear plant in France noticed smoke coming out of non-nuclear sectors 3 and 4. He immediately alerted the authorities, who swiftly intervened.

Rescue teams managed to trace the origin of the smoke and quickly take control of the situation.

Luxembourgish protection services were told by operator EDF, that there was no risk to the installations, staff or environment at any time.
