Three members of a local parliament in India have resigned after a TV crew filmed them watching what appears to be porn on a mobile phone. BJP-ministers Laxman Savadi and C.C. Patil of the Karnataka parliament indulged in the adult entertainment during a political debate.

The men said they resigned to spare their party further embarrassment, although they insisted that the footage on the phone wasn't porn. It was footage of a recent rape following a techno-party, they claimed. They had wanted to prepare their arguments for a debate on the dangers of such parties.

A third politician, who the phone belonged to, also resigned.

Opposition parties are now calling for the three men to be arrested.
