ADR-politician wants to know how proposed new law will be applied to foreign cars

Questions remain over the implementation of a new law making winter tires compulsory, when it comes into force in October 2012. Will it only apply to cars registered in Luxembourg or will it apply to all cars; and which types of vehicle will be affected?

These are the main questions put forward by member of parliament Gast Gybérien of the ADR party to sustainability minister Claude Wiseler, in charge of transport affairs. Mr Gybérien also wants to know the exact time period, during which winter tires will be compulsory.

Furthermore, the ADR-politician is asking Mr Wiseler how the new law could be applied to cars not registered in Luxembourg, while at the same time not violating the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic.
And lastly, Mr Gybérien raises the interesting question, what the consequences will be, if a motorist is stopped driving a vehicle without winter tires.

The minister is expected to answer within the next few days.
