German hotel fire rips through Luxo holiday retreat

The Hotel Bären is a favoured holiday haunt for the 'burgish revellers, required emergency evacuation this week

Our sister portal bonjour.new352.lu reported on this yesterday, but The hotel Bären old establishment located on the famous shores of Lake Titi in Germany, caught fire on Tuesday.

The blaze was sufficient enough to require the emergency evacuation of the 80 guests, a large majority of which were Luxembourgers enjoying a festive break.

The
123 year-old establishment, renovated in 2005, is/was constructed entirely of wood, a major contributing factor to the speed of whcih the fire took hold.

More than 250 firefighters were required to bring the inferno under control. Four people were injured: two were poisoned (smoke inhalation), another suffered multiple but third degree burns and a fireman was struck by falling debris during the process. No Luxembourgers were harmed.

The fire was brought under control at 4am on Wednesday morning, but the origin is still unknown.

The estimated cost of the dames is said to be in the hundreds of thousands (euro).
