A landslide has inconvenienced French railway users by blocking the line between Sarreguemines and Bitche in the border region of Lorraine.

Train service has been suspended, and a bus service is now in place. “For the Region of Lorraine, the first concern is to guarantee users' safety, and to maintain the reliability of the transportation service,” said the region in a release.

The regional government said the line needs improvements in any case, and has called on infrastructure provider RFF and rail operator SNCF to make the line safer and allow faster speeds.
